Growing Our Skills

While many architectural principles have stayed the same for centuries, our industry changes fast. Surprising new technologies, clever materials, and better standards are being developed all the time.

To be better designers, it’s essential that we’re open to ideas, keep learning and look for inspiration in all kinds of places so we can keep delivering the projects our clients want. With that in mind, we’re delighted to announce that two of our BP architectural designers have recently added to their Passivhaus qualifications!

Reshma, based in Tī Kōuka House in Whanganui, has achieved Certified Passive House Tradesperson certification. This is a bit unusual for an architectural designer as it’s a qualification normally undertaken by “tradies”, but the payoff here comes from gaining a better understanding the Passivhaus build process from the perspective of the people doing the physical work; we all know things look a bit different on a piece of paper or computer screen!

Emma, who has returned to her native Cape Town but continues to produce wonderful work for Black Pine, recently qualified as a Certified Passivhaus Designer. This makes her just the second person in South Africa to have gained the achievement!

We’re super proud of these achievements, and of course it’s great news for our clients who get the benefits of all these extra skills when it comes to designing projects.
