Bamboo Flooring
Bamboo is the fastest growing plant on Earth. Its ability to regenerate to full size in just 3 years makes it an eco-friendly building material plus it loves poor and otherwise unproductive soils.
This is an ideal material to use in high traffic areas as the natural durability and strength of bamboo remains undamaged even under the heaviest use.
There are a three types of bamboo flooring manufacturing: horizontal, vertical (where the slices of bamboo are compressed) and strand-woven which involves shredding of the bamboo and then forcing it back together.
Bamboo flooring is available in a wide variety of colors. Generally, the lower the price point, the lower the product quality, and the higher chance for indoor air quality concerns.
When shopping for bamboo flooring look for low formaldehyde emission ratings for the glue used and waxed edges are ideal for added moisture resistance.
